Wenger turns down France approach
Arsene Wenger has rejected the opportunity to become France’s new manager, and will instead continue his work at Arsenal, The Telegraph report.
Les Bleus had a disappointing Euro 2012 campaign, and were eliminated from the tournament in Ukraine and Poland by eventual winners Spain in the quarter-finals.
Laurent Blanc stepped down as the nation’s coach after the campaign and a number of names, including Wenger, have been linked as his replacement.
It is believed that the French Football Federation have contacted the north London club’s trainer to gauge potential interest in taking on the role, but Wenger has stated that he will stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Didier Deschamps is another that has been speculated, which will increase after he resigned from his role as Marseille boss.
Despite this, it is believed that Deschamps will also spurn the opportunity as he does not want to betray close friend Blanc.
