Steven Gerrard has a huge decision to make regarding Alfredo Morelos

Rangers’ summer transfer window has been one fuelled by a burning ambition to knock their Old Firm rivals off their perch, with signings raining in at Ibrox since Steven Gerrard’s arrival.

The heavy influx of new signings at Rangers along with the arrival of an unproven manager commanding one of the most beaming reputations in recent footballing memory has ushered in a new era at the club.

But whilst Rangers are undergoing something of a transformation it’s important that they build for the future by keeping their best players as well as strive to add new talent to their ranks.

Alfredo Morelos certainly stands out as one of the club’s most indispensable talents, largely due to the fact he is 22-years-old and clearly has plenty of scope for development.

Earlier this summer the Colombian striker was subject of a £3.75 million bid from Bordeaux which was swiftly rejected by the club, but the French outfit are not the only side expressing an interest.

Speaking ahead of Rangers’ clash with FC Ufa, Sergei Tomarov (Ufa’s manager) declared that he would be interested in signing Morelos, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson if his side knocked the Gers out of the Europa League.

The admission proves that interest in Morelos is beginning to intensify across Europe, but Tomarov might not share the same point of view now as Morelos was sent off for two quick-fire yellow cards in a moment of pure petulance.

Before the match Gerrard would have been almost completely against the idea of selling Morelos, but his latest stunt during a match of immense importance for the club will invite fresh questions about his reliability and whether he has the mentality to succeed at Ibrox.

The lure of a new challenge in a more prestigious league and the promise of higher wages will naturally carry a huge weight of appeal for Morelos, so there’s no doubt that Gerrard may face an uphill battle to keep him at the club even if he is willing to give him a shot at redemption.

Either way Morelos (valued at £2.03 million by Transfermarkt) has left Gerrard with a decision to make and, although it’s probably too late to offload him during this window, one more act of petulance might just persuade the Rangers chief to offload him in the near future.

Revealed: Majority of West Ham United fans want Perez to start

[ad_pod ]

Lucas Perez left Arsenal in the summer to pursue a fresh start that would equal more minutes on the pitch.

The Spaniard moved to West Ham United in a bid to achieve that, but at the moment he faces the same problems.

The 29-year-old, who scored seven goals in 21 appearances for the Gunners, has played just 40 minutes of Premier League action so far.

Perez has come off the bench in two of the club’s four top-flight matches and played 81 minutes of the Hammers’ 3-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup.

The striker has not yet been given much of a chance up front due to Marko Arnautovic leading the way.

However, the club are struggling for results having lost all four of their league matches – the only club in the division to do so.

With that in mind, we asked you if Manuel Pellegrini should play Perez more regularly, and the overwhelming majority want him in the team.

Liverpool fans confident about destroying PSG in Champions League opener

Liverpool are having the perfect season so far as they have picked up five Premier League wins from five matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side most recent triumph was a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The club have also picked off West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Leicester City.

On Tuesday night, the Merseyside outfit face arguably their toughest test yet as they take on Paris Saint-Germain in their opening Champions League group match.

The results have been on Liverpool’s side so far this season, but they are yet to really hit top form on the pitch.

The main problem against Tottenham was that Klopp’s players missed that clinical touch in the final third.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”291236″ player=”12034″ title=”Jose Mourinho Has Turned Into Arsene Wenger”]

If Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah had been at their best, then Liverpool could have won the game by four or five goals.

The Reds’ defence will be heavily tested against PSG due to Thomas Tuchel having Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani at his disposal.

Despite this, plenty of fans feel confident about getting a result.

The Most Expensive Premier League Players Of All Time

Money, money, money, the world of football is dominated by it and the Premier League is no different.

The inflation rate of a Premier League player’s price tag since the competition’s inception in 1992 is ridiculous. Had everyday items like milk and petrol inflated that much, they wouldn’t be affordable.

Milk would be £7.62 a pint and a litre of fuel £11.20, at an inflation rate of 1,721%!

Applying this information to the transfer costs of every Premier League player, who is the most expensive star to have ever graced the league?

Aguero, De Bruyne and Sterling have all arrived at Manchester City in recent seasons for large sums of money, but it’s not them.

Paul Pogba became the league’s most expensive signing in 2016 when he re-joined Manchester United for £86 million, but it’s not him either.

Take a look as we apply TotalMoney’s Transfer index theory and countdown the 25 most expensive players to have played in our great league.

Wonder what happened to Mourinho…

Revealed: 49% of Liverpool fans want Mignolet to start EFL Cup clash ahead of Alisson

In the early rounds of cup competitions, it is normal for elite clubs to field their second-string side as they tend to face lower-league opposition.

However, Liverpool are in a predicament as they have been drawn against Chelsea in the third round of the EFL Cup.

The two Premier League giants will go head to head at Anfield on Wednesday, three days before facing each other again at Stamford Bridge in a top-flight match.

Given the short amount of time between games, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will have to decide which players, if any, to rest in the midweek cup clash.

The contest may perhaps give second-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who has been an unpouplar figure among supporters on Twitter this season, some rare minutes on the pitch, but when we asked you who should start at Anfield, the majority of fans want Alisson to keep his place.

The Brazilian signed for the Merseyside outfit from Roma in the summer and has started every single one of the Reds competitive matches so far this season, all seven of which they have won.

West Bromwich Albion fans have no time for Robson-Kanu

West Bromwich Albion hit a stumble on Tuesday night as their four-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Darren Moore’s side faced up against Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in the third round of the EFL Cup at The Hawthorns.

Understandably, the manager made some changes to his team, but there was one introduction to the side that failed to work.

Hal Robson-Kanu was named in the first XI, making his 10th appearance of the season but he struggled to impress against Roy Hodgson’s men.

Palace dominated the majority of the encounter and left as 3-0 winners thanks to two goals from Andros Townsend and one from Patrick van Aanholt.

Moore tends to rely on Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez to provide the attacking flair, but on this occasion, Robson-Kanu was responsible.

On Twitter, plenty of West Brom fans hit out at the 29-year-old, who has scored seven goals and created two assists in 64 outings for the club across a two-year spell.

Revealed: 45% of Manchester United fans back Mourinho over Pogba for next season

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United have not made a strong start to the new season by any stretch of the imagination. They currently find themselves in 10th place in the Premier League, have been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Championship side Derby County and recently slumped to a desperately dull 0-0 against Valencia in a Champions League tie at Old Trafford.

As is to be expected, United manager Jose Mourinho has come under fire in light of these poor results and performances. Equally headline-grabbing has been the Portuguese boss’ seemingly fractured relationship with Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder is the Red Devils’ record signing and star player. However, he has struggled for consistently good form since his big-money return to the club in 2016. Many have attributed the 25-year-old’s difficulties to the way he is managed by Mourinho.

Increasingly it is looking as though the United hierarchy will soon have to back one or the other out of Mourinho or Pogba. So, we asked fans of the club which of the two they would rather see still in situ at Old Trafford next season and just 55% were in favour of the midfielder. See the full results below.

Opinion: Pavard is the only centre-back Tottenham should be targeting

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham have already been linked with loads of defenders ahead of the January transfer market, but none of them are as perfect a fit as Stuttgart’s Benjamin Pavard.

What’s the story?

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Eric Bailly, as Jan Vertonghen’s injury has shown just how thin Pochettino’s squad is.

The boss now only has two fit senior centre-backs, and is also reportedly eyeing a move for Dutch wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt.

While Bailly has the Premier League experience and de Ligt has the leadership skills, Pavard’s versatility would make him the absolute perfect signing to round out Pochettino’s defence.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”306215″ player=”12034″ title=”Watch Fixture in Focus Croatia v England”]

Perfect for Pochettino?

Pavard stunned everyone at the World Cup this summer, performing extremely well for France as a right-back.

The 22-year-old plays as a centre back for Bundesliga side Stuttgart, but was stuck on the right flank due to his ball-playing abilities and the incredible form of Samuel Umtiti and Raphael Varane in the middle in Russia.

As well as scoring the goal of the tournament, the youngster averaged two tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per game, all while playing out of position.

He has picked up right where he left off with Stuttgart, somehow getting better every week now back in his natural position.

Across seven Bundesliga games this season, he is winning over three aerial duels per game while also averaging a truly remarkable 9.6 clearances per game, as per WhoScored, with the former clearing up any concerns over his physicality.

Pavard’s elite ball-playing skills, composure on the big stage and versatility to play anywhere across a back three or a back four would make him one of Tottenham’s best signings in years.

So, Tottenham fans, would you back a move for Pavard? Or is there a better choice? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…

Newcastle United fans unsure about Achraf Lazaar’s position at club after dropping to reserve team

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle United fans have reacted to comments made by forgotten player Achraf Lazaar about his struggles to get back into the first-team under Rafa Benitez.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato (via Chronicle Live) the midfielder, who can operate at left-back as well, explained how he is trying his best to put in good performances for the club’s reserve team in order to be recognised by the manager.

Lazaar provided three assists in the last two matches and although he has made peace with his current situation, the 26-year-old is dedicated to putting in the hard work on the training ground to convince Benitez that he should be part of the Premier League squad.

Newcastle have had a poor start to the season and are yet to register a win in the Premier League, as the fans continue to call for owner Mike Ashley to leave after a disappointing summer transfer window.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”304908″ player=”12034″ title=”Rafa’s Pub Facts Spurs’ Impressive Run & A Premier League First”]

Lazaar joined the North East club in 2016 but only has a total of ten appearances to his name. He joined Italian club Benevento on loan last season where he also made a few rare appearances before returning to Newcastle in the summer.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions by Newcastle fans to his comments:

Twitter reacts to Gabby Agbonlahor offer to return to Aston Villa for free

[ad_pod ]

According to reports from the Daily Mail, former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor offered to return and play for free before the recent takeover.

Prior to Dean Smith’s takeover the West Midlands side were in dire straits having failed to win any of their previous nine league games under Steve Bruce, who was promptly sacked.

Currently sitting in 15th place in the standings, the Villans are not where they want to be and it will take some work from former Brentford boss Smith to get them back up there.

Former England forward Agbonlahor left Villa Park in the summer after 14 years in the claret and blue and as the club’s all-time top goalscorer having scored 86 goals in 391 appearances, of which 75 were in the top flight.

The 32-year-old free agent was reportedly willing to return and play for free, taking both the club’s financial crisis and injury list into account.
