Royals Fans Shower Jazz Chisholm Jr. With Boos Ahead of Game 3, and He Was Loving It

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not a popular figure among Kansas City Royals fans.

The New York Yankees infielder ruffled some feathers with comments he made after the team's loss in Game 2, during which he suggested the Royals got lucky in their first win of the ALDS.

When he took the field for introductions ahead of Game 3 at Kauffman Stadium, the Royals home fans greeted him with a chorus of boos from the stands. Chisholm followed Yankees DH Giancarlo Stanton in the order and trotted onto the field after the slugger. Stanton scarcely received any reception at all from the crowd, who then got extremely loud and raucous when Chisholm's name was bellowed by the stadium announcer.

The boos didn't seem to bother Chisholm too much, as he could be seen on the broadcast saying "I love it" as the noise rained down from the crowd.

The harsh treatment of the third baseman doesn't come as much of a surprise given his recent comments, and he certainly seemed as if he was expecting it. He'll look to respond with his play on the field, having launched his first postseason home run late into the Game 2 loss.

Unai Emery dealt Aston Villa injury blow as news emerges on £150k-per-week star

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has been dealt an injury blow as news emerges about one of his key players.

Unai Emery sparks mini Aston Villa revival after disastrous start to 25/26

Villa have started to show signs of life after a rocky start to the new Premier League season, sparking a mini-revival that has renewed some hope among fans.

The Villans really struggled early on, especially going forward, and it took them five league matches to even score their first league goal of the campaign.

Aston Villa’s results in the Premier League so far this season

Aston Villa 0-0 Newcastle

Brentford 1-0 Aston Villa

Aston Villa 0-3 Crystal Palace

Everton 0-0 Aston Villa

Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

Aston Villa 2-1 Burnley

A huge sigh of relief swept through the away end at Sunderland when Matty Cash’s long-range drive ended Villa’s unbelievable goal drought, and they were unfortunate not to come away from the North East with their first three points of 2025/2026.

Once languishing near the bottom of the table, Villa have gone on a resurgence since Cash’s strike — winning their last four matches in all competitions — including back-to-back Europa League wins and two consecutive league victories.

NSWE struggled to build upon last season in the transfer window, with failure to qualify for the Champions League at the end of 24/25 certainly coming back to haunt them in this regard.

PSR has undoubtedly held Emery’s side back from fully investing in the squad, with Villa only able to spend around £26.5 million in total last summer as they agreed last-gasp loan deals for Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho in an effort to bolster the team.

Taking this into account, Villa’s renewed form under Emery could be seen as even more impressive as some of their rivals enjoyed mammoth spending sprees.

Emery has also had to cope without some key men through injury, especially Belgium international Youri Tielemans.

The former Leicester City star was a mainstay under Emery last term, registering 15 goal contributions in 53 total appearances, but he’s been forced to sit out of Villa’s excellent recent run with a calf problem.

Tielemans has watched on from the sidelines ever since their 1-1 draw at Sunderland, and according to reports from Belgium, the 28-year-old will now be out for a much while longer.

Unai Emery dealt Aston Villa injury blow as news emerges on Youri Tielemans

Het Nieuwsblad and La Dernière Heure, via Sport Witness, both state that Tielemans is now expected to be absent for longer than expected.

The £150,000-per-week playmaker could even miss Belgium’s November World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan, meaning Tielemans could also be unavailable for all of Villa’s next games after this October break.

The games Youri Tielemans is now expected to miss for Aston Villa

Emery’s side take on Tottenham, Go Ahead Eagles, Man City, Liverpool, Maccabi Tel Aviv and high-flying Bournemouth before the next round of internationals in November, with Tielemans now poised to potentially miss all of these crucial matches against top opposition.

The 28-year-old’s setback is undoubtedly a blow for Emery.

As a key influence, Tielemans brings creativity, control and experience to the heart of the team’s midfield. His ability to dictate tempo, link defense to attack and contribute with crucial goals and assists makes him central to the way Villa operate.

Even if Emery has coped fine without Tielemans in Villa’s last few games, with his last appearance coming in their 0-0 draw at Everton, he’ll be sorely missed when Villa face off against Spurs, City and Premier League champions Liverpool.

Yankees’ Obvious Flaws Surface in Ugly Fashion to End World Series

The New York Yankees spent all year talking about how close this team was, so you have to give them credit for pulling together to lose the World Series as a group. In the deciding Game 5, which they lost 7–6 to the Los Angeles Dodgers, it wasn’t the shaky starting pitching or the undermanned bullpen or the feast-or-famine offense that doomed them. It was the problem that plagued them all season: They were astonishingly talented, and at times they played like astonishing knuckleheads.

Just about everyone contributed: It was the first World Series game ever in which a team committed a balk, two field errors and a catcher’s interference.

“Just a couple mistakes along the way that hurt us,” said center fielder and captain Aaron Judge. He was referring to the fifth inning, when they committed three defensive blunders to open the door to five Dodgers runs, but he could have been describing the season. It’s hard to say that a team that won 94 games and the pennant played bad baseball, but the Yankees often did. Their outfield defense ranked in the bottom third of the league and no team ran the bases worse this year, according to Statcast, which does not track “plays that make you wince.”

The Yankees had three of those in the fifth inning of Game 5 to open the door to five Dodgers runs—and eventually close the door on their season. It was all the more frustrating for how well things were going. Four batters into the bottom of the first, the Yankees led 3–0. They tacked on another run in the second. Gerrit Cole took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. They seemed well on their way to becoming the first team to go down three games to none in a World Series and force a Game 6. Then the Yankees turned back into the Yankees and the Dodgers turned back into the Dodgers.

Dodgers center fielder Kiké Hernández singled to open the fifth. Shortstop Tommy Edman lofted a ball to shallow center, where Judge let it clank off his glove. “Just didn’t make the play,” he said. Five pitches later, catcher Will Smith grounded to shortstop Anthony Volpe, who threw awkwardly to third and failed to collect the out. “I was trying to make a play,” Volpe said. “I just pulled the throw.” Two plays that could have resulted in three outs instead resulted in zero and left the bases loaded.

Cole struck out second baseman Gavin Lux and DH Shohei Ohtani, but when right fielder Mookie Betts grounded to first, Cole failed to back up the bag—at the same time that first baseman Anthony Rizzo failed to charge the ball.

“I took a bad angle to the ball,” Cole said. “Wasn’t sure really off the bat how hard he hit it. I took a direct angle to it, as if to cut it off, because I just didn't know how hard he hit it. And by the time the ball got by me, I was not in a position to cover first.”

Rizzo diplomatically called it “a miscommunication on coverage” before acknowledging that “pitchers are always taught to get over no matter what.” In any case, Betts beat the ball out. A run scored.

The next hitter was first baseman Freddie Freeman, whose only disappointment this week was that he snapped his record streak of World Series games with a home run at six. He singled to center to score two more. As the sellout crowd of 49,263 fell silent, left fielder Teoscar Hernández crushed a cutter off the center field wall to tie the game. The final numbers on the inning: three extra outs, five runs, all unearned.

The Yankees retook the lead on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, but the Dodgers did the same in the eighth. Ohtani, who partially dislocated his shoulder in Game 1 and had not had a hit since, took a hack at the first pitch. Catcher Austin Wells knocked into his bat, and the home plate umpire Mark Ripperger awarded Ohtani first base. On the next pitch, Betts flied to center to plate the go-ahead run. In the ninth, just for good measure, closer Luke Weaver took a third disengagement—pitchers are allowed two per at bat—and was punished with a balk. It was the most careless performance by a group of New Yorkers since Eric Adams’s aides failed to delete their text messages.

After it was over, the Yankees milled around a quiet clubhouse, saying their goodbyes. This team could look very different next year. Right fielder Juan Soto will be a free agent and is expected to command more than half a billion dollars. Second baseman Gleyber Torres, left fielder Alex Verdugo and setup man Clay Holmes will be free agents. The team holds a $17 million option on Rizzo. Perhaps some turnover could be good for this group. In the Judge Era, New York has never won a playoff series against an opponent outside the AL Central.

In the wake of this latest disappointment, the Yankees offered little explanation and little path forward. “Just gotta limit the mistakes,” Judge said. Asked how one does that, he paused. “It’s hard to do,” he admitted. “Don’t let it happen. I don’t have a good answer for you.” He has a long offseason to think about it—three days longer than he wanted.

Lip-Reader Breaks Down Heated Moment Between Ex-Teammates in Mets-Brewers Game 1

The New York Mets captured Game 1 of their NL wild card matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night thanks in part to Jesse Winker's two-run triple in the second inning that knotted things up at two runs apiece.

The heightened energy of playoff baseball is always palpable, and that couldn't have been more clear by Winker's reaction to the triple. After tying up the game, Winker was fired up, and the former Brewer exchanged words with ex-teammate Willy Adames. Adames was seen standing at shortstop talking trash back and forth with Winker, who started the rift as he was running the bases.

H/T to @JomboySports on X (formerly Twitter) for the breakdown of what appeared to be said. Winker hit Adames with a, "F— you, mother——."

After Adames appeared to fire back, Winker asked Adames repeatedly, "Whatcha gonna do about it?" To which Adames responded with, "I'll let you know in the parking lot."

Adames was asked about the second inning spat after the game, and chalked it up to Winker being Winker.

"I don't know what was going through his head, but he just started saying some stuff and I said something back," Adames told the media after the game. "I don't know. I think that's the kind of player he is. …I guess that's part of his personality. It was just a little bit of a surprise to me, but we don't back off."

Winker deflected when asked about his part after the game.

"I don't really want to speak on it. I just want to focus on the game tomorrow," he said after the win.

Chalk it up to a high energy playoff game, but as Adames mentioned, the Brewers won't back off as they look to keep their season alive.

Update now shared from Leeds on move to re-sign former Elland Road loanee

A new transfer update has now emerged regarding Leeds United’s attempts to complete the signing of a former Elland Road loanee in 2026.

The Whites head to Brighton on Saturday afternoon, looking to build on the 2-1 Premier League win at home to West Ham last time around. Leeds are primed to try and pick up a positive result at the Amex Stadium, with Daniel Farke confirming that there are no injury problems in his squad ahead of the game.

“It is way better. I have nothing to report, nothing to complain about. No illnesses, no injuries, so everyone is training, we have a proper group and everyone is available, proper competition. A situation I prefer much more.

“Sadly it is not a guarantee that you will also be successful in the game, sometimes after a tough week you can also be successful like we were last week, but overall it is a much better situation compared to last week, so no question marks today.”

While Leeds are performing well back in the Premier League, the opportunity to make new signings in the January transfer window shouldn’t be sniffed at, and they have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Ross Barkley recently, who spent a spell on loan at Elland Road back in 2013.

New Ross Barkley to Leeds transfer update

Speaking to Leeds United News, journalist Graeme Bailey played down the idea of Leeds re-signing Barkley in January, with Villa considering him an important squad figure.

It is easy to see why Leeds would like to bring in the high-earning £60,000-a-week Barkley, with the 31-year-old such a talented and experienced player, and one who could still be harbouring faints hopes of being selected for England’s World Cup squad next summer.

The midfielder has proven himself in the Premier League for many years, making 287 appearances and bagging 71 goal contributions – 37 goals and 34 assists – while Andros Townsend has waxed lyrical over his ability after playing with him at Luton Town.

“Honestly, they’ve been some of the best midfield performances I’ve seen in my career. It’s just unbelievable – the calmness, the ability to get the ball off the back four and knock it past some of the world’s best midfielders without a care in the world.”

Leeds now lining up January approach for Carvalho, could be ideal for Farke

For now, it looks like Leeds will have to look elsewhere for potential midfielder additions, but if the chance arises for them to sign Barkley, they should go for it, even if it is a loan move in January.

Amorim can end Dalot's Man Utd career by unleashing £48m "monster"

One of the positions Manchester United have struggled to find the correct solution for under Ruben Amorim is at wing-back.

On the right flank, things seem more settled. Amad has put in some good performances this term, locking down his place on that side and forming a good partnership with summer arrival Bryan Mbeumo.

The left-hand side has been more problematic. Last January, the Red Devils bought in Patrick Dorgu from Lecce to operate out there, but at just 21 years of age, he is still inexperienced and has rightly had his game time managed.

That has meant Diogo Dalot has operated out there a lot.

Dalot's concerning form at left wing-back

26-year-old Dalot is becoming one of the most experienced players in United’s squad. The Portuguese defender has played 219 times for the club and offers excellent versatility, able to operate at both left-back and his natural right-back.

It is that versatility that Amorim has leaned into this season. Of course, the Red Devils boss infamously plays with wing-backs, and he has tasked Dalot with that this season. The United number 2 has operated at left wing-back more often than not in 2025/26.

In nine appearances across all competitions, the former FC Porto star has played five times at left wing-back. In his last four matches in the Premier League, Dalot has played on that flank.

He does offer something going forward, at times. Last season, he chalked up this impressive assist against Fulham in the FA Cup from the left flank, with Bruno Fernandes firing home to cap off a good move.

Yet, United fans do seem to be losing patience with Dalot. Content creator Dev Bajwa said the Red Devils’ number two has “got to be dropped” and said his teammates are “carrying” him.

Well, a solution might well present itself for Amorim if he does decide to drop Dalot.

The Man United star who can replace Dalot

United certainly have options on the left flank. Dalot, of course, has been Amoirm’s first-choice in recent games, and Dorgu is another player who could slot in there.

However, one man who is yet to operate in that role this season is Luke Shaw.

Well, that is because the England international has played a starring role on the left of United’s back three. Of course, he is a left-back by trade, but has shone at left centre-back. That could all change soon with the imminent return of Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentine is close to returning to action after being sidelined since February with a knee injury. He is, however, a trusted lieutenant of Amorim when fit, and has started all 16 possible games under the Portuguese manager.

Martinez is now back in full training and could feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. If he does come into the side, it could see a reshuffling of the pack for Amorim.

With the 2022 World Cup winner set to slot into the back three on the left, Shaw would be able to move to left wing-back.

It is a role he has only done 15 times in 297 games for United. He’s also played there for England, and scored the opener in the Euro 2020 final, a goal Three Lions supporters will not forget in a hurry.

Shaw once described Martinez as a “monster” so unleashing the £48m defender when he is back to full fitness makes sense. It also offers Amorim a chance to change things up, with Dalot struggling for his best form at left wing-back.

Playing Shaw high and wide, allowing him to get crosses into the box on his strong foot, is a move that seems to make sense for the manager. With the disappointing form and general misprofiling of Dalot by Amorim, replacing him with Martinez could make the Red Devils a more well-rounded team. It could finally spell the end for the Portuguese in United colours.

Arsenal player ratings vs Sunderland: Gabriel, don't put your head there! Brazilian defender gets burnt by brilliant Brian Brobbey as clean-sheet kings drop the ball

Sunderland dealt Arsenal a blow in the title race as Brian Brobbey bagged a sensational late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light. The Gunners looked to be home and dry before the Dutch forward popped up in the dying moments, ensuring Mikel Arteta's side failed to take all three points and fully capitalise ahead of title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool doing battle on Sunday.

In a challenging start to the clash, Declan Rice had the first real chance of the game as he tested Robin Roefs with a free-kick from range. Eberechi Eze then looked to capitalise on a sloppy Enzo Le Fee pass but it was Sunderland who bagged the opener at the Stadium of Light. A looping pass into the Arsenal box wasn't dealt with and former Gunners defender Dan Ballard held off pressure before blasting past David Raya.

Arsenal started the second half strongly and after Saka flashed a low effort across goal shortly after the restarted, the winger made no mistake to bury past Roefs at the near post after Rice robbed Le Fee of possession in the Sunderland half. Martin Zubimendi then twice went close before Leandro Trossard, who had already rattled the Sunderland crossbar, rifled home from distance with 15 minutes to spare.

Raya then made a stunning close range save to deny Brobbey, with the Dutchman looking the most likely to force an equaliser. Indeed, the Sunderland substitute wasn't to be denied before the final whistle blew, with the former Ajax man acrobatically tucking the ball home deep into second-half injury time to ensure a share of the spoils at the Stadium of Light.

David Raya (6/10):

Powerless to stop Ballard's thumping opener, the first goal he's conceded since September. Made a stunning save to deny the offside Brobbey in the 79th minute but could do little to keep out the Dutchman's acrobatic late effort.

Jurrien Timber (7/10):

Took a knock in the first half but it didn't impact the Dutchman, who was again solid on and off the ball.

William Saliba (6/10):

Blazed over from 12 yards shortly before the break in what was a huge chance for the centre-back. His distribution was again key as Arsenal dominated the ball.

Gabriel Magalhaes (5/10):

Failed to perform his set-piece heroics this time. Struggled with the more physical Brobbey after the Sunderland striker replaced Wilson Isidor and was caught out as the Dutchman got ahead of him to loop the ball home late on.

Riccardo Calafiori (6/10):

Pushed forward well from left-back without looking overly threatening.

Declan Rice (7/10):

Forced Roefs into action in the 15th minute with a free-kick from range. Outmuscled by Ballard for Sunderland's opener but made amends as he robbed Le Fee of possession in the build-up to Saka's equaliser.

Martin Zubimendi (8/10):

Booked for a foul on Wilson Isidor that ultimately resulted in Sunderland's opening goal. Look a threat when going forward and rattled the crossbar midway through the second half. Also provided the assist for Trossard's thumping strike.

Eberechi Eze (6/10):

Bent over from the edge of the Sunderland box midway through the first half after a misplaced Le Fee pass. Sent an effort straight at Roefs on the hour mark before being withdrawn late on in a subdued display.

Bukayo Saka (7/10):

Teed up Saliba perfectly with a fine knockdown in first-half injury time. Flashed an effort across goal early in the second half before finding a way past Roefs moments later.

Mikel Merino (6/10):

Operating as a makeshift striker in the absence of Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, the burly Spaniard provided the assist for Saka's equaliser but that was as good as it got.

Leandro Trossard (8/10):

After a subdued first half, upped his game after the break. Played a neat pass for Zubimendi to slide just wide shortly after Saka's equaliser and rifled past Roefs from 20 yards to put the Gunners in front.

INEOS mean business: Man Utd planning Vinicius Junior move, price tag revealed

Manchester United are now planning a move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Spanish club.

Despite their struggles last season, Man United proved they still have pulling power in the summer transfer market, winning the race for the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, even though both forwards attracted interest from a number of clubs playing in Europe.

However, it has been a long time since United have been able to make a real statement signing in the transfer window by signing one of the world’s best players, given the decline since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012-13 season.

It was recently revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe actually stepped in to prevent a move for FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, despite Ruben Amorim being very keen to sign the Poland international.

The INEOS chairman has concerns about Lewandowski’s age and wage demands, which means the move wasn’t given the green light, despite the 37-year-old being regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

Vinicius, on the other hand, is still in the prime of his career at 25-years-old, and the Red Devils have now joined the race for his signature…

Man Utd now planning move for Vinicius Junior

That is according to a report from Spain, which states Man United now intend to make a move for the Real Madrid forward if the opportunity comes up, with it emerging that his future at the Spanish club is up in the air.

The Brazilian’s contract is set to expire in 2027, meaning rumours of a possible departure are now swirling, amid widespread interest from some top clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City also named as potential suitors.

However, United may have to shell out a massive fee to tempt the La Liga giants into a sale, with it recently being revealed they are unwilling to sanction a departure for less than €250m (£220m).

Having identified one of the best wingers in the world as a target, INEOS clearly mean business, and the left-winger’s goal catalogue alone suggests he could be capable of taking Man United’s forward line to the next level.

Throughout the 2024-25 campaign, the former Flamengo man was a constant threat in front of goal, chipping in with a whopping 41 goals and assists for Real Madrid in all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times in the Champions League.

Amorim will no doubt be pleased with his summer acquisitions in attack, with Mbeumo making an instant impact, bagging a brace in the 4-2 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, and Matheus Cunha is also now off the mark.

However, Vinicius Junior, who has been lauded as “spectacular” by journalist Tom Allnutt, is a proven top-level forward, and Man United should not pass up the chance to sign him if the opportunity arises.
