Geoff Marsh, the new coach of Sri Lanka, has said he learned a lot on Sri Lanka’s tour against Pakistan in the UAE and believes those lessons will stand his team in good stead on their tour of South Africa.”We got ourselves into winning positions, but couldn’t get to where we wanted to get,” Marsh said on the eve of the team’s departure to South Africa. “I learnt a lot on my first tour. Obviously a different culture than to coaching Australia and Zimbabwe.”When you come back from a tour like Pakistan, I think everyone wants to make sure we are all on the same page. Captain [Tillakaratne] Dilshan and I get on very well. We work very closely together and we all can get better on this tour.”Sri Lanka have not won a Test since Muttiah Muralitharan retired in July 2010, and have lost their last three Test series by 1-0 margins to England, Australia and Pakistan. They also lost the ODI and Twenty20 series to Pakistan.”I am hoping that the disappointment of the last few tours as a playing group we will enable to lift ourselves,” Marsh said. “It’s a challenge. We have got world class players and we need them to click. The younger players will need to play some big knocks against such an attack.”Marsh said his team could do well on their tour of South Africa if they can just put up enough runs on the board.”It’s a tough tour but I firmly believe that if we play well, we can do well,” Marsh said on the eve of the team’s departure to South Africa. “The key is scoring enough runs against that good attack. If you take Australia they were bowled out for 47 in the first Test and they got up from the dead and did well. It can be done.”We have to lift ourselves obviously and some players need some runs. If we give the bowlers some runs then it will be an interesting battle.”Sri Lanka commence a three-Test series against South Africa at Centurion on December 15.

A temporada 2016 foi a que mais chamou atenção no tema: chegaram a General Severiano os argentinos Joel Carli, Gervásio Nuñez, Damián Lizio (naturalizado boliviano) e Gustavo Canales (naturalizado chileno). O primeiro, apesar de – assumidamente – ter desempenho insuficiente nos treinos, se consolidou como um pilar da equipe.

Nuñez, conhecido como “Jacaré”, Lizio e Canales não deixaram saudade. Os dois últimos tiveram dificuldades físicas. Canales, inclusive, se aposentou do futebol esse ano, aos 35 de idade. Também passou pelo Alvinegro o uruguaio Juan Salgueiro, outro que não deu motivo para ter o vínculo renovado.

A Série B de 2015 também contou com estrangeiros. Na verdade, o uruguaio Gonzalo Bazallo foi embora sem entrar em campo. Álvaro Navarro, por outro lado, marcou nove gols em 15 jogos. Não houve, entretanto, acordo para a renovação.

أعلن عمرو صلاح أمين صندوق الاتحاد المصري لكرة اليد، انتهاء عقد المدرب الإسباني روبرتو جارسيا باروندو مع منتخب مصر لكرة اليد، بعد انتهاء منافسات كأس العالم الأخيرة التي أقيمت في السويد وبولندا.

وحصل منتخب مصر على المركز السابع في بطولة كأس العالم لكرة اليد بعد الفوز على المجر.

وقال صلاح خلال تصريحات عبر برنامج رقم 10 على القناة الأولى: “عقد باروندو انتهى مع منتخب مصر بشكل نهائي، لن يستمر معنا في المرحلة المقبلة”.

وأضاف: “باروندو ليس متفرغًا لمنتخب مصر ويتمسك بالاستمرار مع فريقه في ألمانيا، وهو ما يجعله غير متفرغ لنا، وذلك لا يتناسب مع طموحات منتخب مصر”.

وتابع: “طالبناه بالتفرغ أكثر من مرة لكنه جدد عقده مع النادي الألماني حتى 2025 بالتالي لن نقوم بتجديد عقده”.

وواصل: “طموحنا في البطولة الأخيرة كان الوصول للمربع الذهبي لكننا لم نحقق ذلك، ونرى أن ذلك بسبب عدم معرفته بالأمور نتيجة عدم تفرغه وهو ما تسبب في عدم تحقيق طموحاتنا”.

وأكمل: “سيتم التعاقد مع مدرب أجنبي جديد لمنتخب مصر يليق بطموحاتنا ويحقق ما نرغب به في المرحلة القادمة”.

وأردف: “لا نحدد مدرسة معينة لكن الأهم كواليتي المدرب، توجد مدرسة إسبانية قوية وفرنسية وألمانية، بالتالي نحن منفتحون على كل الخيارات بشرط توافر سير ذاتية قوية تناسب منتخبنا وطموحاتنا”.

واستكمل: “طموحاتنا كانت أعلى في البطولة الحالية من المركز السابع لكن هناك اختلاف أن النسخة الماضية لم نلعب مباريات ترتيبية كما أن البطولة في أوروبا وليس في ملعبنا، وجائحة كورونا أثرت على مستوى منتخبات البطولة في 2021”.

واستطرد: “أول مرة نفوز على كرواتيا والمجر، كما فوزنا بالمركز السابع وخلفنا 8 منتخبات من أوروبا لأول مرة في تاريخ مشاركاتنا، لكن حزن الجماهير مبرر”.

وأتم: “باروندو لم يحسن استغلال القائمة وتدويرها بشكل جيد مما أدى إلى إنهاك اللاعبين واستنزافهم بشكل كبير وهذا أثر على نتائجنا في البطولة”.

He got good players out with fairly unplayable balls on a pitch that became quite subcontinental.”When he burst onto the scene last year he immediately showed his talent,” he added. “He’s got a great combination; a great work ethic and real belief in his own ability and they are what you need to be a top-flight player. One of the strengths of a Lancashire player can be when they come through a mixture of the academy and the league structure; the league is a school of hard knocks while the academy provides a more structured environment.”The man himself certainly doesn’t lack confidence. He demonstrated that during the final day at Aigburth when he told his captain that he’d like to bowl at Keedy’s end. Glen Chapple agreed to the switch, but Kerrigan was informed “he had to perform”. Kerrigan promptly took a wicket with his first delivery to remove James Vince and proceeded to take seven of his nine wickets from the River End.”Keggsy fancied it and when someone shows belief I think you should go with them,” Chapple said. “He took a wicket in his first over and there was no reason to go back. If someone believes in themselves that much you should listen to them. To take nine wickets on that pitch was a remarkable effort. It was by no means a spinner’s paradise, it just shows he got quality.”Not surprisingly, after such a memorable performance, the confidence wasn’t about to subside quickly. “When I get into a rhythm, and this is a bit of arrogance from myself, I feel that I can bowl as well as anyone in the world,” Kerrigan said.He had only previously taken seven wickets in an innings at any level – with his best haul coming for club side Ormskirk – and wryly pointed out the high mark he’d set himself with nine wickets. “I don’t think I’ll be beating them,” he said. “I’ll be worried now for the rest of my career but I think I’m wasting my time. It’s a really great moment, and I’ll remember stuff like this when I retire.”

كشفت تقارير صحفية إسبانية، أن نادي ليفربول الإنجليزي يشعر بالغضب من ريال مدريد، بسبب توزيع التذاكر في مباراة الفريقين المنتظرة في دور الـ16 ببطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.

ويواجه ريال مدريد نظيره ليفربول ذهابًا على ملعب أنفيلد رود يوم 21 فبراير المقبل، قبل أن تتكرر المواجهة يوم 15 مارس بـ سانتياجو بيرنابيو بالعاصمة الإسبانية مدريد.

صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية، أكدت أن ليفربول سيحصل على 1800 تذكرة لمشجعيه فقط في مباراة الإياب بملعب سانتياجو بيرنابيو يوم 15 مارس.

وبسبب أعمال إعادة التطوير في ملعب سانتياجو بيرنابيو، ريال مدريد سيمنح ليفربول 3% فقط من السعة الحالية التي تم تخفيضها من 80 ألف مشجع إلى 60 ألف بسبب تلك الأعمال الجارية حاليًا.

ليفربول يشعر بالغضب، خاصة وأنه من الممكن أن يتم السماح لدخول 70 ألف مشجع للمباراة، وهو ما يجعل الريدز يريد زيادة عدد المشجعين، خاصة وأن 1800 نسبة قليلة للغاية.

تأتي هذه الأنباء بعد أن اشتكى مشجعو أتلتيكو مدريد أيضًا، بعد منحهم 341 تذكرة فقط لمباراة ربع نهائي كأس ملك إسبانيا يوم الخميس المقبل.

Sem vencer há dois jogos, o Botafogo sabe da dificuldade que virá pela frente nesta quarta-feira, a partir das 21h (de Brasília), quando o visitará o São Paulo, em duelo válido pela oitava rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro.

Em entrevista coletiva concedida nesta terça-feira, Moisés apontou o risco e os pontos fortes do Tricolor, que, até aqui, é o único clube invicto na competição.

-Jogo difícil amanhã (quarta), o São Paulo vem tendo bons resultados com a chegada do novo treinador. O time está entrosado, vi os últimos três jogos deles, vamos encontrar dificuldades, mas acredito que vamos fazer bom jogo e, quem sabe, trazer os três pontos.

-A torcida (do São Paulo) está jogando junto. Acho que o torcedor deles vai comparecer. Ponto forte parece que é a união em campo. Resgataram um bom jogador, que é o Diego Souza. Ele esteve para ir embora, voltou e está fazendo gols. Chegada do Everton deu um gás ao São Paulo – completou o lateral.

Por fim, Moisés explanou a respeito de sua condição física, uma vez que ficou cerca de um mês e meio fora do time de Alberto Valentim, por conta de uma lesão no tornozelo direito, sofrida na final do Carioca.

– Acondição física você sente um pouco, mas a parte técnica não vejo problema. Confio no meu potencial e qualidade. Agora é ritmo de jogo, a pior parte já passou. Tenho um grande objetivo de ajudar o Botafogo. Individualmente estou tranquilo, vou melhorar fisicamente e tecnicamente nos jogos. Não vou encontrar dificuldades nisso – finalizou.
