£40k-p/w Man Linked With Wolves Loan

Journalist Dean Jones has mooted Wolves to make a summer loan move for midfielder Fabio Carvalho.

What's the latest Wolves transfer news?

The Molineux club are yet to entirely seal their fate as a Premier League team for another season but look in good shape to avoid the drop.

Indeed, despite losing away at Leicester City and to Brighton, Julen Lopetegui's men still sit with a seven-point cushion above the relegation zone with just four games left to play.

With that being the case, Wolves might be able to attract some decent options in the summer window and it sounds as though Liverpool midfielder Carvalho could soon be on their radar.

In a recent interview, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “There is uncertainty about what happens with Fabio Carvalho. Firstly, it’s worth pointing out that he will not give up on making it with Liverpool. He’s very driven to ensure the move works out long-term.

“But this has been a tough season for all involved, and chances could be just as limited for him next season because Liverpool have to bounce back. That is going to mean top-level recruitment.

“I think a loan will be discussed for Carvalho. Fulham hoped it would become an option when he left them, but it never did. Marco Silva helped hugely with his breakthrough, and I’m sure he would welcome him back if the player is open to it.

“It is difficult to take a decision like that. From Carvalho’s perspective, it may feel like admitting defeat, and I did check out other moves that could be on the table. There has been nothing yet, but it sounds to me like Wolves could become an option. They are in an uncertain moment with players like Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves, and an opportunity to sign someone like Carvalho, who is an adaptable attacking midfield player, would be a good fit."

Will Fabio Carvalho leave Liverpool?

As alluded to by Jones, Carvalho has started just four times in the Premier League this term for the Reds and so he may want to get more game time next term by heading out on loan.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed as much when he stated that the talented 20-year-old will be on the move this summer (via Rousing the Kop).

Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho

However, if the £40k-p/w man still hopes to make it at Liverpool one day, a loan to Wolves certainly could help him develop while still having the opportunity to catch Jurgen Klopp's eye if he can impress with a Premier League rival.

All in all, it certainly sounds as if this move could make a lot of sense for all parties involved.

Arsenal: Edu Set For "Sensational" Player Talks

Arsenal talks to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice are certain to happen this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest on Rice to Arsenal?

The England international is reliably believed to be among Edu's top transfer targets as he looks to reinforce manager Mikel Arteta's central midfield options.

Rice has again starred for West Ham under David Moyes, even amid their Premier League struggles, and rumours suggest he could leave east London for around £75 million.

As well as the 24-year-old, Arsenal apparently hold an interest in Brighton star Moises Caicedo and even Barcelona attacker Raphinha head into the next transfer window.

Rice is also apparently keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, as reported by multiple outlets, and if there was any doubt Arsenal are certain to attempt his signing, Jones has now removed it.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the reporter claims Gunners talks to sign the England international 'will happen' – backing rumours that he is 'very interested' in joining Arteta next season.

He explained:

"He's very interested in joining Arsenal. Chats with the manager and the captain are good PR for him, and it's good for him to start relationship building ahead of the talks that will happen in the summer.”

Should Rice go to Arsenal?

The midfield colossus is, at least by the numbers, Moyes' star player – averaging a higher rate of interceptions per 90 than any other West Ham star whilst standing out as their best-performer overall (WhoScored).

Such form will attract both England and Europe's biggest sides and Arsenal look certain to be one of them. Called 'utterly sensational' by members of the media, it's crystal clear why Arteta has taken such a keen interest in signing Rice.

We believe it is inevitable he will depart the London Stadium this year, and it's past time he managed to secure his big money move.

Rice has made no secret of his desire to win major trophies, and Arsenal can help him achieve that, with the Three Lions ace saying this in an interview last year:

"Growing up as a kid I’ve seen all these top players win the trophies, win the Premier League, the Champions League.

“Me as a football fan and a player I want to win the best stuff, I want to win the Premier League, I want to lift that trophy, I want to win the Champions League, I want to win the FA Cups, League Cups, even with England, I want to win it all."

Newcastle United Preparing Offer To Sign 6 Ft 3 "Mountain"

Newcastle United are preparing an offer to bring Torino defender Perr Schuurs to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports Italia expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

What's the latest on Schuurs' future?

The Telegraph have reported that Eddie Howe is hoping to get six new signings through the door in the summer, one of those being a new centre-back, and the 23-year-old has been identified as a potential candidate.

The Dutchman only arrived in the Serie A back in August 2022, but in his 26 appearances to date, has already become Ivan Juric’s second best-performing defensive player, so his displays have caught the attention of the hierarchy in the northeast.

The St. James’ Park target’s current contract isn’t set to run out for another three years, so won’t come cheap when trying to get a deal over the line, but it would appear that the board are willing to try regardless.

According to Di Marzio (via TEAMtalk), Newcastle are “preparing an offer” for Schuurs and are “serious” about securing his services ahead of the 2023/24 term. The Magpies haven’t yet tabled an official bid but it’s stated that they hold the “intention” to do it in a move that could potentially see him reunite with his former teammate Sven Botman, with the pair knowing each other from during their time at Ajax and internationally for the Netherlands.

For Torino to sanction his sale, the reporter claims that the northeast outfit would have to “double” the €14m (£12m) they paid for him which would end up being approximately €28m (£24m), a fee that is likely to be “within reach” for PIF.

Netherlands defender Perr Schuurs.

Would Schuurs be a good signing for Newcastle?

Newcastle will likely be able to attract the majority of their targets should they secure a place in the Champions League, and if he was to put pen to paper, Schuurs would be an excellent backline addition at St. James’.

Standing at 6 foot 3, the “mountain”, as dubbed by journalist Josh Bunting, currently averages 3.3 clearances and 2.1 aerial wins per league game, via WhoScored, so holds a strong physical presence over his opponents.

The Nike-sponsored colossus, who has the versatility to play higher up in defensive midfield alongside his natural centre-back role, can also pose a threat in the final third with 37 goal contributions to his name since the start of his career, making this deal even more of a no-brainer to complete.

Leeds target Arnaud Kalimuendo

Leeds United face major ‘competition’ for the signing of Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The lowdown: Interest so far

The Whites have been extensively linked with a move for the 20-year-old wonderkid in recent times and seemingly remain confident in their ability to get a deal over the line.

That’s despite an apparent desire from the French giants to keep the youth starlet and Kalimuendo reportedly being happy to stay and fight for a place in Christophe Galtier’s plans.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-47/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Sharing the current stance, one well-informed onlooker has suggested that a deal is still a possibility this summer, although Director of Football at the Yorkshire club, Victor Orta, won’t be the only one in the mix for the talented youngster…

The latest: ‘His name came up’

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Thornton – a reporter for Sky Sports – has claimed that Leeds are certainly keen on the 12-cap France Under 21 ace and also Rennes’ frontman Martin Terrier.

He said: “Absolutely on the radar, but whether they can get them over the line is another matter. Kalimuendo, for example, there are a lot of clubs that have been looking at him, but I know his name came up a few weeks ago.

“Leeds, they’ll look at a lot of different options, so I suspect they’ve asked the question but, obviously, they’ll face competition if they want to pursue it.”

The verdict: Worth the wait

Albeit the move may currently seem unlikely to come to fruition as things stand, a signing of the quality and long-term potential of Kalimuendo is worth holding out for should he be made available, even alongside other targets such as Terrier or the heavily linked Mergim Berisha.

Last season, the £16.2million valued prodigy scored 13 times in 38 appearances across all competitions whilst on loan at RC Lens, earning a 6.82 Sofascore rating whilst winning 2.1 duels and attempting 1.8 shots on average per game in Ligue 1.

Sharing similar stylistic traits with such renowned strikers as Luis Suarez, Ciro Immobile and Jonathan David (Fbref), Kalimuendo – who was described as a ‘disgustingly good striker’ by journalist Jacque Talbot – would be a sensational addition to Jesse Marsch’s squad if Leeds can win the race ahead of other potential suitors, especially at a previously mooted €25million (£21.1million) asking price.

Maxwel Cornet is of ‘interest’ to Steve Cooper and Forest

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet ahead of the Premier League season but have been told they must stump up his full release clause.

The Lowdown: Cornet rumours

The Reds have been busy in the transfer market this summer, having already spent more than £70m on reinforcements. However, Forest boss Steve Cooper could still yet add fresh faces to his squad ahead of the window closing.

According to the Daily Mail, the newly promoted side join Everton and Fulham in the race to secure the Ivory Coast international’s signature.

The report suggests that Forest must either stump up his entire £17.5m release clause or offer even more if they want to pay in instalments.

The Latest: Taylor’s claim

Taylor understands that Forest are indeed in the hunt for Cornet, but the Clarets are not budging on their demands.

Speaking with GiveMeSport, the journalist claimed: “Cornet is one of interest to Forest. However, Burnley are still pointing towards the £17.5million relegation clause.

“Everton have tried to get him on loan. They’ve also tried to see if Burnley would reduce that price but, at the moment, Burnley are obviously not really under any pressure to offload him even though Vincent Kompany said that he expects Cornet to depart.”

The Verdict: Great signing

Hailed by journalist Andy Jones as having made an ‘electric’ start to life in a Clarets shirt last summer, the 25-year-old could be a great signing for Cooper’s side, even if he may break their transfer record, which is currently set slightly above that £17.5m number.

Having scored nine goals in 26 Premier League appearances last season, Cornet was responsible for over a quarter of Burnley’s league goals.

With the proven top-flight ace on just £44,000-per-week, this seems like a fantastic signing for Forest given the player has shown he can find the back of the net for a team who may find themselves battling down the bottom.

Aston Villa offered Ross Barkley

Aston Villa and Everton have both been offered the chance to sign Chelsea’s Ross Barkley, according to The Mirror.

The Lowdown: Previous loan spell

Hailed by Harry Redknapp as a player who ‘has everything’, Barkley spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Villa Park. Reports even suggested that Villa paid an £11m loan fee for the 28-year-old, who went on to make 24 Premier League appearances in the Midlands.

He scored just three times and provided one assist under Dean Smith, although a move wasn’t made permanent despite the efforts from Christian Purslow. However, it looks as if the CEO will get another chance regarding the attacking midfielder.

The Latest: Villa linked with Barkley

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are looking to offload Barkley ahead of the new season.

The report states that the Blues have offered Villa and Everton the chance to sign the 28-year-old, who will be out of contract in just under 12 months’ time.

The Verdict: Avoid

Barkley didn’t exactly shine at Villa, and Steven Gerrard now has the likes of Emiliano Buendia and Philippe Coutinho at his disposal in an attacking midfield sense.

The Chelsea and England midfielder has scored 52 senior goals during his career for club and country, but his Transfermarkt valuation has dropped dramatically since 2019 from £27m to £10.8m.

Villa could be better off looking to bring in and out-and-out central midfielder alongside a new senior forward instead of signing Barkley, despite Purslow being a big fan of the 28-year-old.

Crystal Palace in talks to sign Nascimento

Crystal Palace are plotting to sign highly-rated Botafogo striker Matheus Nascimento this summer and hope to complete the deal ahead of other interested clubs.

According to a recent report in Brazilian outlet Lance, the club have been in talks over a possible move for the player who has also attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Eagles hold an advantage over others because their co-owner John Textor is also a majority shareholder in Botafogo, which is likely to make any deal much easier to complete.

The technical director at the Brazilian club Andre Mazzuco told Lance that the player had been ‘offered’ the chance to continue his development in the Premier League.

However, there is the possibility of him doing the same at Lyon or Belgian club RWD Molenbeek which are also under the ownership of Textor.

Mazzuco went on to say that talks were ‘ongoing’ between the club and Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman who is central to the negotiations.

It’s reported that Botafogo are interested in an initial loan deal to aid his development, but a permanent deal could also be on the cards with the player having a €50m (£42m) release clause in his contract.

He’s a brute due to his tall and powerful stature and made his professional debut at the age of 16, becoming the club’s youngest player. He’s since scored eight goals in 45 senior appearances on his way to being named a “huge talent” by scout Jacek Kulig.

Now aged 18, Nascimento is a U20 international for Brazil, but because of his long-haired appearance has been likened to Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani. If he manages to become as prolific as the bushy-haired South American, then Palace would have quite the player on their hands.

The club are insistent that he follows the development plan laid out for him and rejected a £19m bid from an unnamed club last year. However, with just one year remaining on his contract, they don’t want to risk losing him for free.

He would be a great addition to Patrick Vieria’s side and could add even more energy upfront potentially replacing Christian Benteke who the club want to sell.

They could wait until next summer when he could be available for free, but with the two clubs under the same ownership, it’s unlikely that Textor would allow Palace to do that.

The Eagles need to use the advantage they have and secure him now, he’s one of Brazil’s best young talents and would be a great investment for the future.

AND in other news: Vieira must ruthlessly axe “scared” £120k-p/w Palace dud, he’s cost them too much…

Pearce drops key Bellingham claim

Liverpool will not sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham this time around but he is a definite option for 2023, reliable journalist James Pearce has confirmed.

The Lowdown: Bellingham rumours galore

The Reds’ summer business looks like it may already be done for another transfer window, following the additions of Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay.

One player who has been continually linked with a move is Bellingham, however, with the 19-year-old considered one of Europe’s hottest young prospects.

Despite this, it looks as though Liverpool will have to wait before they have a chance of signing him.

The Latest: Pearce drops key update

Writing for The Athletic on Monday, Pearce stated that the Reds wouldn’t be signing Bellingham this summer but he is a ‘serious option’ in 2023.

The England international’s current Dortmund contract expires in the summer of 2025 and the Bundesliga giants are not willing to sell him now, following the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City.

[freshpress-quiz id=“398089″]

The Verdict: Next summer nailed on?

While it is a shame not to see Bellingham be available this summer, if he ends up joining Liverpool next year it could be well worth the wait.

He looks like a special talent with an enormous future ahead of him – he has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Mats Hummels – and he could eventually take Jordan Henderson’s spot in the Reds’ midfield.

[freshpress-poll id=“399042″]

For now, Jurgen Klopp should have enough midfield quality at his disposal, with the likely first choice three of Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson joined by the likes of Naby Keita, James Milner, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Carvalho.

Everton transfer news on Toure

Everton are reportedly already eyeing up a potential replacement for Richarlison in the form of Reims striker El Bilal Toure.

The Lowdown: Richarlison leaves

As confirmed by the Merseyside club, Richarlison has now officially left Goodison Park to join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Brazil international leaves after a memorable four seasons, scoring 53 goals and making a further 14 assists in 152 games in total over all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Replacement lined up?

Taking to Twitter, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed that Frank Lampard’s team are now eyeing up a move for Toure as a potential Richarlison replacement:

“Everton eye Reims star as potential Richarlison replacement. El Bilal Toure is a major talent and the Toffees have been watching the Mali ace for a number of months.”

Expanding in his article for 90min, Bailey adds that Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Lyon and Monaco have also looked at the Mali international, who is thought to cost in the region of £20m.

The Verdict: Big boots to fill

Of course, Richarlison’s boots are big ones to fill, and so a lot of expectation would be placed on Toure should he sign.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-7/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The striker only managed two goals and four assists in Ligue 1 last term (Transfermarkt), and so is a player that Toffees supporters would likely have to be patient with.

He is only 20 years of age, and so has the potential to reach Richarlison’s heights in time, but the Blues really need someone who can hit the ground running straight away, so perhaps we could see two new front men arrive this summer.

Spurs considering move for Estupinan

According to a Spanish source, Tottenham Hotspur target and Villarreal defender Pervis Estupinan is in the shop window this summer.

The Lowdown: An uncertain future

The 24-year-old first joined the La Liga outfit from former Premier League side Watford two years ago and has become an integral part of Unai Emery’s starting XI, making 73 appearances during his time at the club so far.

Even though the left-back still has five years remaining on his contract in Spain, he has recently been linked with a move away from the Yellow Submarine, with CBS reporter Ben Jacobs claiming talks are ‘advanced’ over a move to north London.

Following a fresh update, it looks like this is a move that could well happen in the coming weeks…

The Latest: Spurs gifted Estupinan boost

In an article published by Spanish outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo (via Sport Witness), it’s claimed that Tottenham are indeed ‘interested’ in Estupinan, and whilst there hasn’t yet been any official bids made, it’s stated that Villarreal would be ‘willing to sell’ if an offer arrived that would ‘satisfy’ the hierarchy.

The source report that the giants have firmly placed their man ‘in the shop window’ and is just ‘one of the several’ players who would be allowed to leave in order to help reduce the club’s large wage bill.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Potential bargain

Antonio Conte is already closing in on the signings of Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence, but the boss must feel like he needs to strengthen his defensive options even further, and with the future of Sergio Reguilon uncertain, Estupinan’s arrival would surely only push the former Real Madrid man out the exit door.

The 26-cap international, who was once dubbed an ‘impressive’ player by football analyst Reece Chambers, isn’t renowned for his attacking abilities, but is a versatile player and can add some much-needed assurance to a backline. He averaged 1.3 tackles per league game and an 81.5% pass success rate last term, via WhoScored, and ‘handled (Mohamed) Salah exceptionally’ against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals.

It yet remains to be seen how much Villarreal would value Estupinan at, but considering they are desperate to generate transfer funds and are voluntarily open to letting him go, Spurs should be all over this potential bargain if the opportunity to sign him arises.
